Automatic Single-Blow Forging Machines
Hill Acme™
single blow and solid die forging systems are designed for high-volume
production with minimal downtime. The greatest use of this type
of machine has been for forging grinding balls 1" to 3.5"
capacity, up to 270 balls per minute. However, Hill Acme™
forgers have proven their versatility in the production of parts
ranging from rock drill bits to gear blanks.
For many years, massive construction, automated
operation, and flexibility have made Hill Acme™
equipment the overwhelming choice of leading manufacturers. These
systems come in a wide range of sizes and types to meet a wide
variety of upset forging needs. Currently, five different sizes
are available; every one operates completely automatically, from
feeding stock to discharging finished pieces.
Each machine utilizes sturdy, massive construction features to
keep it operating over long, uninterrupted periods. For example,
Hill Acme™ single-blow, solid
die forging machines have either a fabricated or single-piece
cast steel bed, eccentric-type main shaft, extra long header slide,
double cam-operated cutter slide, and fully suspended slides with
nitralloy liners for permanent alignment. For positive drive control,
these machines are equipped with the Hill Acme™
ventilated, pneumatically-operated, multiple-disc cushioned drive
clutch and brake. Because of the work they perform, Hill Acme™
forging machines are designed and constructed to operate efficiently
under the most adverse conditions and can take more unavoidable
abuse than any other machine of this type.
Hill Acme™ developed these
highly-productive, automatic ball-forging machines decades ago
because of the growing demand for steel balls used to grind or
pulverize cement, paint pigment, Taconite, and other ores. Today
we have become practically the only manufacturer and supplier
of this type of equipment.
